THE STRUGGLE IS REAL

2020 has been a very difficult and challenging year to say the least. This pandemic continues to have an impact on our daily lives and now we are headed into winter season which for many presents challenges as well. I am talking about seasonal Affective Disorder which according Dr. Larry Mitnual, Psychiatrists at Ascension Via Christi, affects 20% of adults.

Some symptoms include; Oversleeping, low energy levels, social withdraw ( which we are already doing with pandemic), anxiety and irritability.

If any of these sound familiar here are some coping strategies; Watch what you eat, exercise regularly, get sun exposure ( vitamin”D”) or get a sun lamp, don’t hesitate to seek professional help.

At the end of the day wipe the state clean. Find something to take your mind off of the stressors of the day.

I also want to list some symptoms of Major Depression; Low mood, low energy levels, feeling depressed most of the day, changes in appetite or weight, feelings of hopelessness, difficulty concentrating, feelings of self harm.

If you or anyone you know are experiencing any of these symptoms do not hesitate to reach out for help. There is no shame in seeking help in getting through a tough time. Here are some numbers to keep on hand;
